CCME Appoints New Board Chairman And Elects Two New Board Members
The Carolinas Center for Medical Excellence (CCME) is pleased to announce the appointment of John R. Mangum, MD, as board chairman, and the election of two new members to the CCME Board of Directors. New members are Charles T. Frock, MHA, a returning board member, and Jeffrey “Jeff” L. Perkins, CPA, CIA, CHFP, MBA, a first-time member of CCME’s Board.
“These individuals bring a wealth of expertise and leadership in their fields. They will be tremendous assets to the board as CCME strategically navigates the myriad of health care changes to further our mission of improving the quality of care for communities,” said Joy Hogan Rozman, MEd, RN, President and Chief Executive Officer for CCME.
Dr. Mangum has served as a member of CCME’s Board of Directors since 2006 and as Chairman from 2011 to 2014. He is a family physician in private practice with Sanford Medical Group, a satellite of Pinehurst Medical Clinic. Dr. Mangum is actively involved with the North Carolina Medical Society (NCMS), currently serving on the Board of Directors of the Carolina Complete Health Network.
Dr. Mangum received his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He completed his residency in family medicine at the former Charlotte Memorial Hospital, which is now known as Carolinas Medical Center.
Mr. Frock served on CCME’s board from 2008 to 2017 in various roles as Vice-Chairman, Executive Committee member, several ad hoc committees, and Futures Team board representative. Over his tenure on CCME’s board, Mr. Frock provided valuable leadership to the board both from a financial and strategic perspective.
Mr. Frock is a retired healthcare executive, currently serving as the chairman of the Community Care of North Carolina. In his professional career, he served as chief executive officer of FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, where he was credited with propelling the Pinehurst-based health system to the forefront in regional health care delivery. The administration building on the campus of FirstHealth is named the Charles T. Frock Leadership Center.
Mr. Perkins is currently the Associate Vice President for Business and Finance and Medical Business Affairs at the University of South Carolina, as well as the secretary/treasurer of the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Educational Trust. He has held multiple finance positions with the organization since 2007.
Mr. Perkins has over 25 years of financial experience and is a Certified Public Accountant in the states of South Carolina and Texas, Certified Internal Auditor and Certified Healthcare Financial Professional. He is also a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, Healthcare Financial Management Association, and Institute of Internal Auditors. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Baylor University and his Master of Business Administration from Regis University.
