SC Certified Diabetic Educators, Temp/PT (several positions)

The Carolinas Center for Medical Excellence, a health care quality improvement organization, is seeking health care professionals with quality improvement experience. Internally entitled “Care Improvement Specialists”, these positions are RN/LPN/Allied health professionals who are certified diabetic educators (CDEs), and will assist with coordinating and teaching Diabetic Self-Management Education. Our specialists are knowledgeable of the implementation and application of quality improvement methodologies in order to help health care providers implement improvements in quality and patient safety. They have the ability to assess and solve problems, develop innovative approaches, and convene and lead groups in planning and goal setting.  These positions are home-based, temporary, PRNs.

Successful CDEs meets the following qualifications:

  • RN, LPN or Allied health professional
  • 5 years of health care quality improvement experience
  • Possess superior communication and interpersonal skills in order to interact with health care providers and coworkers
  • Must have home office that can be locked
  • Employee to provide own internet service
  • Must be located in SC and willing to travel on an as needed basis

SC Health Care Quality Professional – Nursing Home

Internally titled “Care Improvement Specialists”, these positions are knowledgeable of the implementation and application of quality improvement methodologies in order to help health care providers implement improvements in quality and patient safety. They have the ability to assess and solve problems, develop innovative approaches, and convene and lead groups in planning and goal setting.  This position is home-based.

NC Freelance Proposal/Technical Writer

The Carolinas Center for Medical Excellence seeks a Freelance Proposal Writer, experienced with grant/proposal writing in the health care field. This position will assist with proposal development, research and writing. The proposal writer collaborates closely with Business Relations staff, subject matter experts and team members to develop and write original content for compelling health care proposals, to ensure the successful acquisition and/or retention of business. The proposal writer will work on an as needed basis, from home, in most casesLocal candidates only, as occasional meetings at our corporate headquarters in Cary are required.

The proposal writer’s duties will include, but is not limited to: reviewing Requests For Proposals (RFPs) and assisting with proposal planning; assisting in defining winning strategies; working with Business Relations team to develop content; meeting established proposal deadlines to write, review, and submit proposals; communicating proposal and status updates; ensuring proposal submission criteria for each proposal is followed; assisting with printing, assembly and binding of proposals; and ensuring consistency within proposals by following established methods and procedures and/or creating new methods and procedures.

The successful candidate's qualifications include:

  • Experience in the health care or related field, required
  • Health care grant/proposal writing preferred
  • Must have own computing equipment and access to internet
  • MS Office experience required

NC/SC Quality Specialist – External Quality Review (EQR)

The Carolinas Center for Medical Excellence seeks one full-time and one part-time Quality Specialist to conduct quality activities as determined by health care quality improvement contracts.The Specialist is responsible for interpreting and analyzing provided information to support contract compliance, and maintaining professional working relationships with contract staff, program leaders and health care providers. The duties include assisting with development of methodologies and data collection tools and protocol; developing and providing educational materials and programs; assisting with identifying and developing systems and processes to enhance contract requirements; and providing technical expertise based on assessment and contract requirement.

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • Degree from an accredited college or university in related field with at least 3 years of related experience;
  • RN preferred
  • CPHQ preferred
  • Experience in quality assessment and improvement methodologies,
  • Knowledge of MCO and/or PIHP delivery systems and current trends
  • Experience with Medicaid populations, programs and policies
  • Experience with Medicaid managed care compliance
  • Excellent communication skills to include composing materials for health plan  education, website postings and newsletter outlines
  • Knowledge of URAC or NCQA accreditation standards and/or HEDIS certification a plus

NC PCS Claims Reviewer, PT/Temp

Work from Home

The Carolinas Center for Medical Excellence, based in Cary, NC, is seeking part-time RNs, to review and compare provider service documentation to billed claims in order to determine compliance with North Carolina Medicaid policies, and state and federal regulations. Work is scheduled on a p.r.n. basis. Reviews must be performed in a manner consistent with contract requirements for timeliness and accuracy. The successful candidates will review and determine appropriateness of billing codes; participate in monthly IRR review and perform data entry of review findings using a web-based application. Work hours and times are flexible, but reviews and responses to inquiries must be performed within required deadlines.  The positions are work from home, on an as needed basis. NC residents ONLY. Requires Internet service.

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • Active RN license
  • 2 years of experience in PCS or in Medicare/Medicaid home health services with strong utilization review experience
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Experience in concepts of Quality Improvement and implementation of corrective action plans
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral)
  • Basic understanding of data management and statistics

NC Documentation Reviewers, Work from Home

Part-Time, Temporary

The Carolinas Center for Medical Excellence seeks documentation reviewers to identify, sort and label information submitted by medical providers subject to prepay claims review by the North Carolina Medicaid Program. Duties include analyzing submitted documentation and conducting a comparison of billing dates of services to determine if all required elements were submitted for each date of service. The positions are work from home, on an as needed basis. NC residents ONLY. Requires Internet service.

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • Certification, Associates or Bachelor’s degree in a health care related field or Business Administration preferred
  • Three or more years’ experience in health care related settings
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)

SC Infection Control RN

Columbia, SC

The Carolinas Center for Medical Excellence seeks an Infection Control RN to perform activities related to auditing and quality control for disease outbreak, to include quality improvement and infection prevention. The position conducts documentation audits and assists in the development and implementation of review procedures, protocols and tools. Additionally, the nurse assists with development, implementation and monitoring of other infectious disease related QI activities as identified through assessment and evaluation; and provides recommendations to improve the quality and validity of audited programs. Up to 15% travel required. This position is contingent upon contract award.

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in related field with at least 3 years of relevant experience
  • Active SC RN with CIC required
  • Experience in quality assessment and improvement methodologies
  • Knowledge of CDC and public health delivery systems
