SC Program Director

We are seeking a Program Director for the South Carolina Quality Innovation Network–Quality Improvement Organization (QIN-QIO) contract for CCME/Atlantic Quality Improvement Network. This is the federally-designated QIN-QIO for SC. The SC Program Director is a senior leader position, responsible for overseeing and managing the state-based program working under the auspices of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, CMS’ national QIN-QIO initiative to improve the quality and efficiency of health care for Medicare beneficiaries. The role includes direct supervision of a state-based team of professionals to achieve required outcomes.

The SC Program Director position is home-based, requiring extensive travel throughout SC, with occasional travel outside SC. For this reason, the preference is for a candidate located in the state; however, we are willing to relocate the right candidate to SC.

Additionally, the successful candidate will meet the following requirements:

  • Knowledge of SC hospitals and health care delivery systems and Medicare programs required
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience with using comprehensive quality improvement methodologies in achieving measurable clinical outcomes
  • Proven ability to manage projects at a strategic level as well as fiduciary responsibility
  • Bachelor’s degree in a clinical or health-related field (BSN, public health, etc.)
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Excellent leadership and relationship building skills
  • Superior written and oral communication skills
  • Minimum of 5 – 7 years of management and supervisory experience in health care-related area

SC Contract Manager

We are seeking a Contract Manager to be responsible for the effective and efficient operation of assigned contracts and services. This position maintains positive working relationships with external organizations and program leaders; monitors operations and contract performance, business process improvements and enhancements; and establishes business procedures for service line. The successful incumbent will maintain professional working relationships with agency contract staff and program leaders; proactively assist with the development of plans and activities to increase quality improvement contract opportunities; and provide maximum value to the customer.

This is a home-based position, with occasional travel to Columbia, SC required.

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred; ten (10) years of related experience may substitute for degree
  • Five (5) years’ experience managing quality review activities
  • Minimum two (2) to three (3) years’ supervisory experience

NC Contract Support Specialist, PT

We are seeking a part-time Contract Support Specialist to provide support to all project and management staff, ensuring administrative functions are carried out in a professional manner. As required by contract, the support specialist ensures that medical records are complete, properly organized, and ready for review, mail outs, and tracking. Duties include performing data entry and document processing in support of contracts; identifying, sorting, and labeling the contents of medical records and identifying any missing elements; handling telephone calls from providers and consumers, providing information as appropriate and referring to other staff; assisting in recording and preparing meeting minutes; assisting with Requests for Proposals (RFP) processes; and providing relief to switchboard as necessary.

Local candidates only – this position works from our Cary, NC location.

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Must have a minimum of one (1) year Microsoft Office experience and administrative support; 2 – 4 years preferred

NC Administrative Project Specialist

We are seeking an Administrative Project Specialist to provide executive level administrative support to the department director.  This position oversees special projects and provides administrative and project support to all project and management staff. Duties include coordinating calendars and meetings; composing and preparing correspondence that is sometimes confidential; arranging complex and detailed travel plans, itineraries, and agendas; completing reports and graphics; compiling documents for any meetings; and other projects and task as assigned. The successful candidate will perform at highly skilled organizational proficiency and detailed focus while maintaining the maximum level of accuracy in the work generated.

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, related field or equivalency of experience with 5 or more years’ experience required.
  • High level of computer skills required, including proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook etc.) as well as Adobe Acrobat, and Social Media web platforms.
  • Excellent and accurate communication skills, both written and oral.

NC Quality Specialist, External Quality Review (EQR)

CCME seeks three (3) full-time Quality Review Specialists to conduct quality activities as determined by health care quality improvement contracts. The Specialists are responsible for interpreting and analyzing provided information to support contract compliance, and maintaining professional working relationships with contract staff, program leaders and health care providers. The duties include assisting with development of methodologies and data collection tools and protocol; developing and providing educational materials and programs; assisting with identifying and developing systems and processes to enhance contract requirements; and providing technical expertise based on assessment and contract requirement.

These are virtual positions, with travel required throughout the state of North Carolina. Only candidates located in NC will be considered. Positions are contingent upon contract award.

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in related field with at least 3 years of related experience
  • Registered Nurse preferred
  • Knowledge of MCO and/or PIHP delivery systems and current trends
  • Experience with Medicaid populations, programs and policies
  • Experience with Medicaid managed care compliance
  • Excellent communication skills to include composing materials for health plan  education, website postings and newsletter outlines
  • Experience in quality assessment and improvement methodologies
  • Knowledge of URAC or NCQA accreditation standards and/or HEDIS certification a plus
  • CPHQ a plus

NC Health Data Analyst

The Carolinas Center for Medical Excellence seeks a Health Data Analyst to assist with research and study design, methodology and statistical analysis in support of health care quality improvement and research activities.  This role serves as consultant to managers and directors regarding study design and consults on and leads heath care quality improvement initiatives.  Duties include determining requirements for data collection used for surveys and quality studies and analyzing results; reviewing health plans; and validating projects and performance measures.

This position requires a strong background in health data analysis. Position is contingent upon contract award.

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • Master’s degree in public health, statistics, epidemiology or related field with 3 – 5  years of experience; biostatistician preferred
  • Working knowledge of HEDIS technical specification highly preferred
  • Knowledge of SAS or comparable analytic software
  • Experience validating projects, surveys and performance measures
  • Familiarity with CMS protocols related to External Quality Review
  • Experience reviewing SQL code highly preferred
  • Ability to write analytic plans and conduct program evaluations
  • Ability to assess pros and cons of research methods (literature reviews)
  • Ability to implement complex analytic techniques
  • Ability to develop analytic reports, charts, and tables
  • Ability to conduct analyses with SAS or similar analytic software

SC Community Health Workers, Temp/PT (several positions)

The Carolinas Center for Medical Excellence, a health care quality improvement organization, is seeking health care professionals with quality improvement experience. Internally entitled “Care Improvement Specialists”, these positions are Certified Community Health Workers (CHW), Certified Diabetic Educators (CDE), Certified Faith Community Nurses, and other health care and community advocates who will assist with coordinating and teaching Diabetic Self-Management Education. Our specialists are knowledgeable of the implementation and application of quality improvement methodologies in order to help health care providers implement improvements in quality and patient safety. They have the ability to assess and solve problems, develop innovative approaches, and convene and lead groups in planning and goal setting.  These positions are home-based, temporary, PRNs.

Successful candidates meet the following qualifications:

  • Community Health Worker or Certified Faith Community Nurse preferred
  • Must have interest in improving the health and welfare of Medicare diabetic beneficiaries in SC
  • Must attend company provided four day Stanford Lay Leader Training
  • Possess superior communication and interpersonal skills in order to interact with health care providers and coworkers
  • Must have home office that can be locked

  • Must be located in SC and willing to travel on an as needed basis

NC Freelance Proposal/Technical Writer

The Carolinas Center for Medical Excellence seeks a Freelance Proposal Writer, experienced with grant/proposal writing in the health care field. This position will assist with proposal development, research and writing. The proposal writer collaborates closely with Business Relations staff, subject matter experts and team members to develop and write original content for compelling health care proposals, to ensure the successful acquisition and/or retention of business. The proposal writer will work on an as needed basis, from home, in most cases.

Only local candidates  will be given consideration, as occasional meetings at our corporate headquarters in Cary are required.

The proposal writer’s duties will include, but is not limited to: reviewing Requests For Proposals (RFPs) and assisting with proposal planning; assisting in defining winning strategies; working with Business Relations team to develop content; meeting established proposal deadlines to write, review, and submit proposals; communicating proposal and status updates; ensuring proposal submission criteria for each proposal is followed; assisting with printing, assembly and binding of proposals; and ensuring consistency within proposals by following established methods and procedures and/or creating new methods and procedures.

The successful candidate's qualifications include:

  • Experience in the health care or related field, required
  • Health care grant/proposal writing preferred
  • Must have own computing equipment and access to internet
  • MS Office experience required
