SC Community Health Workers, Temp/PT (several positions)

The Carolinas Center for Medical Excellence, a health care quality improvement organization, is seeking health care professionals with quality improvement experience. Internally entitled “Care Improvement Specialists”, these positions are Certified Community Health Workers (CHW), Certified Diabetic Educators (CDE), Certified Faith Community Nurses, and other health care and community advocates who will assist with coordinating and teaching Diabetic Self-Management Education. Our specialists are knowledgeable of the implementation and application of quality improvement methodologies in order to help health care providers implement improvements in quality and patient safety. They have the ability to assess and solve problems, develop innovative approaches, and convene and lead groups in planning and goal setting.  These positions are home-based, temporary, PRNs.

Successful candidates meet the following qualifications:

  • Community Health Worker or Certified Faith Community Nurse preferred
  • Must have interest in improving the health and welfare of Medicare diabetic beneficiaries in SC
  • Must attend company provided four day Stanford Lay Leader Training
  • Possess superior communication and interpersonal skills in order to interact with health care providers and coworkers

NC Freelance Proposal/Technical Writer

The Carolinas Center for Medical Excellence seeks a Freelance Proposal Writer, experienced with grant/proposal writing in the health care field. This position will assist with proposal development, research and writing. The proposal writer collaborates closely with Business Relations staff, subject matter experts and team members to develop and write original content for compelling health care proposals, to ensure the successful acquisition and/or retention of business. The proposal writer will work on an as needed basis, from home, in most casesLocal candidates only, as occasional meetings at our corporate headquarters in Cary are required.

The proposal writer’s duties will include, but is not limited to: reviewing Requests For Proposals (RFPs) and assisting with proposal planning; assisting in defining winning strategies; working with Business Relations team to develop content; meeting established proposal deadlines to write, review, and submit proposals; communicating proposal and status updates; ensuring proposal submission criteria for each proposal is followed; assisting with printing, assembly and binding of proposals; and ensuring consistency within proposals by following established methods and procedures and/or creating new methods and procedures.

The successful candidate's qualifications include:

  • Experience in the health care or related field, required
  • Health care grant/proposal writing preferred
  • Must have own computing equipment and access to internet
  • MS Office experience required

NC/SC Quality Specialist – External Quality Review (EQR)

The Carolinas Center for Medical Excellence seeks one full-time and one part-time Quality Specialist to conduct quality activities as determined by health care quality improvement contracts.The Specialist is responsible for interpreting and analyzing provided information to support contract compliance, and maintaining professional working relationships with contract staff, program leaders and health care providers. The duties include assisting with development of methodologies and data collection tools and protocol; developing and providing educational materials and programs; assisting with identifying and developing systems and processes to enhance contract requirements; and providing technical expertise based on assessment and contract requirement.

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • Degree from an accredited college or university in related field with at least 3 years of related experience;
  • RN preferred
  • CPHQ preferred
  • Experience in quality assessment and improvement methodologies,
  • Knowledge of MCO and/or PIHP delivery systems and current trends
  • Experience with Medicaid populations, programs and policies
  • Experience with Medicaid managed care compliance
  • Excellent communication skills to include composing materials for health plan  education, website postings and newsletter outlines
  • Knowledge of URAC or NCQA accreditation standards and/or HEDIS certification a plus

NC External Quality Review (EQR) Project Manager

The Carolinas Center for Medical Excellence (CCME) seeks an EQR Project Manager to be responsible for supervising staff assigned to the Medicaid EQR service area, and ensuring accuracy, integrity, and compliance. The position will oversees work performed by professional staff, handles the scheduling and flow of work, monitors the volume and accuracy of work performed by assigned staff, and submits reports as directed. Responsibilities include recruiting, hiring, and training qualified staff for necessary duties.

The role serves as the primary liaison for CCME with the NC DHHS Division of Medical Assistance. The successful incumbent will maintain professional working relationships with health plans, Medicaid agency contract staff and program leaders; proactively assist with the development of plans and activities to increase EQR contract opportunities; and provide maximum value to the customer. Occasional travel in NC required.

This is a national recruitment and no relocation is required for this position. However, must have the ability to travel to and within NC regularly and preference will be given to candidates located in the southeastern region of the US.

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Graduate of accredited college or university, with degree in Behavioral Health or Social Sciences
  • Licensure or certification as specific by contract.
  • Five (5) years of management experience and in offsite and onsite EQR activities
  • Experience in each of the following:
    • Medicaid recipients, policies, data systems and processes
    • Managed care delivery systems, organizations and financing
    • Quality assessment and improvement methods
    • Research design and methodology, including statistical analysis
  • Ability to function independently and coordinate review activities
  • Superior written and oral communication skills

NC/SC PASRR Clinical Consultant

PASRR Clinical Consultant, part-time

CCME seeks a part time PASRR Clinical Consultant to provide clinical expertise and to participate in a collaborative endeavor to launch a new PASRR review program. The successful candidate will possess superb written and verbal communication skills and will serve as a knowledge resource and subject matter expert.  Responsibilities include: contributing to proposal development; documenting policies and procedures for related activities; and assisting with process implementation. This position may develop into a full time opportunity.

Our corporate office is located in Cary, NC; occasional travel to the office is required.

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • Bachelor’s required, Master’s degree in health related field as required by licensures
  • Current unrestricted license as RN LMFT, LMSW, LCSW, CMHT, LCMHT or LPC
  • RN with behavioral health experience
  • Experience in PASRR Level II review
  • Any related license or certification, a plus
  • Experience in NC and/or SC preferred
  • Ability to communicate and partner with various levels of management (team members, customers, stakeholders ) to achieve results
  • Familiarity with trends in healthcare industry
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications including: Word, PowerPoint and Outlook

NC Business Development Specialist

The Carolinas Center for Medical Excellence seeks a Proposal Manager/Business Development Specialist to manage their proposal process and assist with the development and implementation of processes that identify, vet and develop opportunities and generate new business. The successful candidate will manage and lead the preparation of proposals, grants and responses to RFPs, and provide support, guidance and direction to partners and stakeholders. Duties include establishing timelines for completion and ensuring that proposal team members adhere to required deadlines; supporting core business through research, analysis, and recommendation of new business initiatives; researching and recommending processes that will help support the growth of current products and service offerings; and developing and monitoring sources including subscription services, web sites and other means, to identify potential business. The anticipated hiring range for this position is $55 - 60K per year, depending on experience.

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum (3) three years of experience in a nonprofit or federal/state government proposal and capture role, including technical writing. Preference will be given to the candidate who demonstrates this experience in the healthcare sector
  • Working knowledge of Shipley methodology and application, including formal understanding of proposal management lifecycle and business development lifecycle preferred
  • Strong project management skills, PMP certification preferred
  • Strong writing, proofreading and communication skills
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with all levels of management and various stakeholders (team members, partners, clients) to achieve results
