The South Carolina Coalition for Older Adult Immunization (SCCOAI) is a group of community partners who strive to promote appropriate immunizations to reduce vaccine-preventable diseases among older adults, who are at higher risk for complications, hospitalization and death from influenza.
The SCCOAI leads Senior Vaccination Season (SVS) each year from October 1 through March 31. During SVS, Coalition members support immunization awareness campaigns by offering provider and consumer tools and promoting the Flu Clinic Finder, a web-based method of locating immunization clinics. Television commercials promoting flu and pneumococcal (pneumonia) shots also air statewide throughout the season.
