The South Carolina Coalition for Older Adult Immunization (SCCOAI) is a group of community partners who strive to promote appropriate immunizations to reduce vaccine-preventable diseases among older adults who are at higher risk for complications, hospitalization, and death from influenza.
The SCCOAI leads Senior Vaccination Season (SVS) each year from October 1 through March 31. During SVS, Coalition members support immunization awareness campaigns by offering provider and consumer tools and promoting the SC DHEC Flu Clinic Finder, a web-based method of locating immunization clinics. Television public service announcements promoting flu and pneumonia shots also air statewide throughout the season.
