 CCME provides independent, unbiased, external peer review services for clients. Reviews are divided into three broad categories:
- Medical necessity of admission/surgical procedures
- Experimental/investigational (2 physicians are required to review)
- Quality
Reviews are considered to be either standard or expedited. Standard reviews are completed, and the review outcome is provided within 20 days. Expedited reviews are completed and the outcome is provided within five (5) days unless another time frame is requested by the health plan.
We maintain a pool of actively practicing, board-certified, North Carolina-licensed physicians. Once a case is accepted, we identify the medical specialty needed for the case and ensure that there is no conflict of interest with the chosen physician reviewer.
