CCME is a physician-sponsored, non-profit organization that has built its solid reputation on advancing the quality of health care for Medicare and Medicaid consumers in North and South Carolina. Our work centers around four major market areas:
We collaborate with federal, state, and local agencies to evaluate quality of care, utilization, and reimbursement practices to create innovative, cost-effective and efficient solutions and improve health care quality
Federal Programs and Services – CCME holds the Medicare Quality Improvement Organization (QIO) Contract with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). As the QIO for both North and South Carolina, we are responsible for assuring quality of care for people with Medicare. For more information on our Medicare activities, please visit www.CCMEMedicare.org.
Medicaid Services – CCME contracts with state Medicaid programs to provide review and quality care management services. We work to improve health care outcomes and reduce health care costs. Our work encompasses quality improvement, review of inpatient hospitalization, health care data, and cost effectiveness. For more information on specific services, please visit our Medicaid Services section.
CCME provides continuing educational opportunities for physicians and other allied health professionals to earn the required credit hours. The cornerstone of CCME Education Services is the Physician Leadership Institute (PLI), a collaboration between CCME and the UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School held at the Rizzo Conference Center in Chapel Hill, NC. We are also accredited to provide Continuing Medical Education (CME) credit hours, Continuing Education Units (CEU), Continuing Nursing Education credits (CNE) and Nursing Home Administrator credits (NHA) to attendees of various functions. For more information on upcoming courses, PLI, or our accreditation activities, please visit the Education Services section.
